Abstract

456,675. Vehicle spring-suspensions. HIRST, T. E. C., 129, Wainbody Avenue, Coventry. July 2, 1935, No. 18851. [Class 108 (ii)] A vehicle spring-suspension comprises the combination of two rubber springs, one operating in torsion and the other in either compression or tension. The wheel-carrying arm B has secured thereto a plate a<2> to which and to a fixed plate a<1> on the frame is secured a rubber spring A so that on movement of the arm B the rubber spring A acts by torsion. The rear end of the arm is extended and is secured to a cap C between which and a cup C<1> a rubber spring D is housed the cup C<1> being carried by the frame. Movement of the cap C by the arm B is resisted by the rubber spring D acting in compression or tension. If desired the torsion rubber spring A may be replaced by rubber discs arranged between which are provided metal plates.
