Abstract

Moulding-compositions are produced by treating cellulosic material with the amount of ferrous sulphate solution necessary for thoroughly moistening the cellulosic material without soaking it, then with substantially the exact amount of milk of lime to react with the ferrous sulphate solution and finally adding cement to the moist mass, the three treatments being carried out in the same mixing machine. Cellulosic materials specified are straw, peat and wood shavings and turnings. The masses may be hardened by incorporating solutions of fluorides therein.
