Abstract

503,805. Manures. PETERSEN, K. Nov. 25, 1937, No. 32581. Convention date, Feb. 20. [Class 111] A heat-producing material for heated horticultural beds and hot-houses is obtained by subjecting household and town refuse to disintegration with simultaneous or subsequent intermixing until such refuse has been converted into a substantially homogeneous and porous mass. The mass may be subsequently dried so that the heat-producing power thereof may be retained during storage such drying being sufficiently rapid to prevent a heat-fermentation occurring ; moisture in the form of water, sewage, liquid manure, &c. is added to the dried material before its use as a hotbed fertilizer. Useless filling substances may be separated from the refuse either during or after the treatment. The refuse may be admixed with other waste materials of vegetable and animal nature such as the waste materials from horticulture, agriculture, forestry, the wood industry, the sugar industry &c. Specification 17038/05, [Class 111], is referred to.
