Abstract
455,336. Buoyant garments. EVANS, J. J., St. Andrews, Russell Road, Rhyl, Flintshire. Feb. 14, 1936, No. 4507. [Class 141] In a life-saving garment of the kind comprising an inflatable stole-shaped member having branches b to lie on the chest and a connecting part c to pass behind the neck, waterproof bags f filled with a buoyant material, such as kapok, are secured inside the branches, as by adhesive tags g. The bags hold the walls of the branches apart to facilitate inflation. A bag may be provided also in the neck portion c. The narrowed connecting parts c<1> are strengthened by tapes. The branches b preferably are enclosed in pockets on the inside of the garment, such as a waistcoat ; or they may be secured by tapes or bands to the inside of the garment. The parts band c may be encased in a textile covering. Specifications 207,071, 307,228, [both in Class 77], and 343,792, [Group XXI], are referred to.
