[Class 100 (i)] In a sheet-feeding device for printing, cutting, and like machines in which the sheets are separated from a pile S and forwarded by known conveyer devices 30, 35 to the machine, the conveyer means is provided with two transmission gears of different ratio 41, 43, Fig. 1, and 51, 53, Fig. 2, which enable the sheets to be fed in spaced relation as indicated in Fig. 1, or as an overlapping stream feed as shown in Fig. 2. The clutch for putting one set of gears into operation is operated by lever mechanism which simultaneously throws the other clutch out of operation. The gears 41, 43 are elliptical, but other gears may be employed which reduce the speed of the sheets as this approach the registering position. The clutches may be thrown out by self-acting electromagnetic control mechanism in the event of a misfeed. Specification 455,258 is referred to.
