Abstract

521,669. Feeding sheets in machines for making paper bags &c. NAYLOR, W. H., and DAY & SONS, Ltd., J. Nov. 24, 1938, No. 34237. [Class 94 (ii)] In a machine for making lined paper bags &c. sheets A are picked up by a suction arm 54 and swung forward to feed rolls 42, 64 and 43, 70, which transfer them to a conveyer chain 46 provided with pushers 47. While on the chain they are gummed by a roller 71, and then pass to position A<SP>2</SP> where they are united to a liner provided by a web B fed from a reel 72 by an intermittent roller 74 to delivery rolls 36, 51 which unite it to the sheet A after a length has been cut by a knife 77. The roller 74 is actuated by a shaft 11 through cam 17, linkage 14 ... 18 and pawl 22. The rolls 42, 43 and conveyer 46 are driven from the shaft 20 by a chain &c. 38 and pulley 40. A cam 13 moves the roll 36 to and from the roll 51 by linkage 32 . . . 35. The suction device 54 is lifted by a cam 55 through lever 60 and is swung by a cam 55a through extension 63. The roll 64 is' moved to and from 42 by cam 55b through linkage 68, 67. All the feed motions may be interrupted by a solenoid 88 or hand lever 90 connected by linkage to the moving parts.
