[Class 87 (i)] - Building-blocks having recesses a ... d, which increase in size from the outer to the inner face of the block, are made with the recesses of such size and spacing that the reciprocals of the average densities of the zones z<1> ... z<4> vary approximately according to a geometrical progression. By this means, the maximum heat-insulation is obtained at the inner zone z<4>. The recesses are preferably domed at the top and provided with apertures o which become sealed by the mortar joint, the inner surfaces are smooth, free from angles, and preferably tapered.
