454,829. Vulcanizing - apparatus. CONTINENTAL GUMMI - WERKE AKT. - GES., 100, Vahrenwalderstrasse, Hanover, Germany. Feb. 7, 1936, No. 3821. Convention date, Aug. 31, 1935. [Class 70] A vulcanizing-furnace for articles of moss or sponge rubber, tyres, tubes, &c., comprises a hot air chamber round which the rubber articles, enclosed in light metal moulds, e.g. those described in U.S.A. Specification 1,554,016, which are loaded into clamping frames b, are carried by endless conveyer chains passing over sprocket wheels f. The loading and unloading of the moulds takes place at adjacent points A and D. The air in the bodv of the furnace is heated by steam registers r and drawn through by fans h, while in the lower part of the furnace the air heated in cooling the vulcanized articles in the zone C-D is drawn bv fans t and s over the cold moulds in the zone A-B. The movement of the conveyer is preferably controlled by a time-switch. The clamping frame b has a fixed end-plate i at one end and a slidable plate k, which is urged inwards to hold.the moulds by wedges inserted between the surfaces m and n by means of a hydraulically actuated piston d, while the frame is held in a gripping device w.
