Abstract
123,986. Savy, E. L. A. Feb. 14, 1918, [Convention date]. Bottles, jars, cans, &c., drying.- The drying by hot air and subsequent cooling of bottles, jars, &c. as described in Specification 123,769 is effected in a continuous manner by placing the bottles on nozzles 6 attached to an endless conveyer 2 which carries the bottles over a hot air chamber 7 and then over a coldair chamber 14. The air is supplied to these chambers by blowers and distributing pipes 10, 29 and the escaping air is collected by hoods 19, 17. The hot air supplied to the chamber 7 and heated in the casing 12 is drawn from the hood 17, and has therefore already been warmed by contact with the bottles. The conveyer is composed of closely-fitting plates hinged to one another, and tight joints at the entry 6 and exit from each chamber are provided by flexible material forced upwards into contact with the conveyer plates by springs enclosed in casings 9.
