454,788. Colour photography. GROVES, W. W., 30, Southampton Buildings, Chancery Lane, London.-(I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges.; Frankfort-on-Main, Germany) Jan. 5, 1935, No. 439. [Class 98 (ii)] A multilayer material comprises three superimposed colour-sensitive emulsion layers containing no colouring matter for the finished pictures or colour former therefor, arranged without intermediate filter layers in the order ; blue-sensitive, green-sensitive and red-sensitive with the blue sensitive layer adapted first to receive the incident light, each emulsion layer being fine-grained and rich in silver. The use of fine-grained emulsions rich in silver makes greater the ratio of the sensitivity in the region of special sensitization to the natural sensitivity of the emulsion in the blue region. The specific blue sensitivity of the sensitized emulsions may be damped by dyeing them with a yellow dyestuff. A high content of silver is obtained as described in Specification 426,866. When the material is used for the production of pictorial swollen reliefs for imbibition printing, the emulsion layers may be hardened to a high degree as described in Specification 447,488.
