454,677. Heating air. BURNSIDE, G. B., Fairhill, Dullatur, Dumbartonshire. June 19, 1935, No. 17593. [Class 64 (i)] [See also Group XI] In air-heating apparatus of the kind comprising an air duct 2 containing a heating element D and surrounded by concentric ducts 3 and 4, which are secured together by connections F spaced some distance from the delivery end of the ducts as described in Specification 414,475, [Group XI], the ducts are spaced at the delivery end by ties or struts H which have a part of small cross section. Heat transfer from one duct to another by conduction is thereby reduced. The struts H may have a central screwthreaded part secured in the duct 3 and pointed ends bearing on ducts 2 and 4; the struts may also be screwed in each duct. Alternatively, ties of wire may be used. In all these cases the struts or ties are not required to bear appreciable stresses in directions inclined to their length. The heating unit D may be electric or may utilize steam or hot water.
