Abstract
454,284. Head- and back-rests. EARLE, R. W., 1, Midford Place, Tottenham Court Road, London. June 1, 1935, Nos. 15972 and 18531. [Class 52 (ii)] A detachable and adjustable head-rest for beds or couches comprises an inverted U- shaped frame 6, Fig. 1, the cross-bar 5 being straight and the feet of the limbs being received in sockets 2 secured to the couch end, and a head-board or rest 7, higher and wider than the frame 6, pivotally and slidably supported on the cross-bar 5 with'the centre of gravity of the head-board being below the cross-bar. The board can thus be adjusted in various positions with its lower edge resting on the mattress. The sockets 2 may be formed from metal sheet as shown in Fig. 2, and the sliding and pivotal connection of the board may be effected by means of bridge pieces 8, Fig. 1. In an alternative means of connection, the cross-bar 5, Fig. 6, carries eyes 10, the headed shanks of which slide in slotted guides 12 on the headboard.
