Abstract

281,566. Johnson, E. E., and Nesta, Ltd. July 8, 1927. Cushions; mattresses. - A seat back cushion which may be used as a mattress has a hinged flap movable to give in one position increased thickness along its lower end for use as a back cushion and in the other position to provide a level surface for sleeping purposes. The flap 8 is secured by a hinge strip 12 mounted therein and lying within the outer cover of the main cushion 3, which strip 12 is stitched at its inner end to the fabric covering an underlaying bed of upholstery springs 2. The main cushion comprises three parts 3 - - 5, of which the central part 4 is loosely stuffed in order that it may allow the flap to assume a horizontal position when the device is used as a mattress.
