Abstract
454,179. Exciting dynamos. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and HUGGARD, J. P., c/o General Electric Co., Ltd., Witton, Birmingham. May 28, 1935, No. 15555. [Class 35] An opposing auxiliary generator in the field circuit of a battery-charging generator has in addition to a main field winding an auxiliary winding connected across a divided shunt, one limb of which carries a current proportional to the battery current and the other limb a current proportional to that flowing to the load other than the battery. In the form shown, the auxiliary machine 2 has a winding 1 connected across the main generator 3 and a winding 7 carrying a current proportional to the difference in voltage drops in shunts 12, 13, carrying the battery and load currents respectively, so that increased current flowing to the load 11 produces a compound effect on the main generator. The main machine may have a compound winding 10.
