453,294. Heating water. FILDES, T. R., Eaves Hall, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Stockport. May 20, 1935, No. 14641. [Class 64 (i)] A hot-water cylinder divided by a single horizontal .partition plate b into an upper cold water supply cistern and a lower hot water supply cistern has an air vent pipe c for the lower cistern pro - jecting down through the plate to a point where the pipe is sealed by hot water rising in the lower cistern, so that a heat-insulating layer of air is trapped between the partition plate and the lower end of the pipe. The plate b may be formed with a depressed part to which the vent pipe is attached. Cold water enters the upper cistern at d and passes by a pipe e to the lower cistern, which has flow and return pipes f<1> f<2>, to a boiler and a hot water draw-off pipe g.
