452,801. Gas holders. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG - NURNBERG AKT.- GES., Nuremberg, Germany. March 14, 1935, No. 7918. Convention date, July 14, 1934. Addition to 442,631. [Class 54] The corrugated elastic wall of a gas holder constructed as described in the parent Specification and in Specification 444,848, lies when the holder is empty in a cup c containing a cleansing liquid such as water, oil or a layer of oil floating upon water. Corrosion-preventing means such as sodium bichromate may be added to the water. The top of the gas holder may be formed by an arched disc f sliding on a central column g. Gas escapes from the upper parts d of the wall folds to the upper parts of the next folds through flexible pipes e. A gas escape may be provided on the disc f or the disc may be covered with asphalt-concrete, tarmacadam, or other insulating material. A heating fluid may be circulated through coils in the cup c and column g. The column g may be provided with a concrete core h and rests on a foundation i. Water deposited on the outside of the holder flows down into a channel k which may contain substances preserving the outer surface coating. The outer wall of the channel k may be so high as to enable the holder to be immersed completely when empty. The cup c is provided with inlet and outlet pipes to permit renewal of the cleansing liquid.
