452,747. Fluorescent screens. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Dec. 4, 1935, No. 33652. Convention date, Feb. 4. [Class 98 (i)] A layer which displays a red fluorescence when irradiated with a light source, such as a mercury or sodium vapour discharge tube, emitting one or more monochromatic wavelengths comprises a red fluorescent colouring material, preferably a rhodamine dye such as Rhodamine B,' and lead chromate, formed into a dispersion. The dispersing agent may be a condensation product of phthalic acid and glycerol, or a polyvinyl acetate condensation product. The layer may be painted on a substratum of wood or metal, and may be coated with the dispersing agent and a transparent linseed oil varnish.
