452,692. Cases for lipstick &c. COTY (ENGLAND), Ltd., 3, Stratford Place, Oxford Street, London.-(Coty Soc. Anon. ; 23, Place Vendome, Paris) Dec. 6, 1935, No. 33907. [Class 18] A case for lipstick &c. comprises a slidable carrier 7, Fig. 2, to hold the lipstick, two pivoted closure members 17, which are coupled together so as to rotate in opposite directions, a lever 13, plate, &c. operatively connecting the carrier and the closures so that opening and closing of the latter is effected simultaneously with the movements of the carrier. The lever 13 has a pin-and-slot pivotal connection 14 with a tube 9 held in the outer casing by bosses 10, 11 and the lever is swung to the right when a pin 6 connected to carrier 7 is pushed upwards. The pin 6 has an external operating knob and it slides in a cam-slot 15 in the lever 13 and a straight slot 12 in the outer casing. The closures 17 are pivoted to the case at 22 and each carries a depending arm 18, the two arms having a tooth and recess engagement 20 at their lower ends. One closure has a ball-and-socket connection 23 with lever 13 so that the closures are opened when the carrier is pushed upwards and lever 13 swung over. Due to the cam-slot 15 and the pin-and-slot connection 14, the lever 13 obturates the slot 12 when the case is closed. In a modification, the lever 13, Fig. 7, moves only parallel to itself and it has a ball-andsocket connection at its lower end with a pivoted plate 13<1>, this plate being swung round when the pin 6 is pushed upwards. In a further modification, a separate plate 24, Fig. 9, to obturate the slot 12 is provided.
