[Class 36] A carrier for attaching an overhead cable to an insulator comprises a single cable clamp supporting at the centre of a leaf spring, another part of which is connected to a linkage suspended from a part of the insulator. The clamp, Fig. 1, comprises a trough 10 and clamp ing plate 12. Trunnions 15 on the sides of the trough 10 are carried in a bearing member 16 secured to the upper leaf 21 of an elliptic leaf spring, the bottom leaf 22 of which is secured to a link member 24 secured to the insulator by a pin 27. The trunnions 15 project through slots 28 in the member 24 so that on breaking of the cable its weight is taken directly by the member 24. A rubber block 29 on the base of the member 24 operates to damp excessive vibration. In a modification, Fig. 3, the link member 24 is replaced by members 30, 31 pivoted together at 32 and to the ends of the elliptic leaf spring. Triangular portions 33, 34 on the links are recessed at 39 to provide slots through which the trunnions 15 project. In this form, the bearing member is formed in two parts connected together by bolts 37 and carries a rubber block 38 to damp excessive vibration.
