A combined grading and corona shield (Fig. 1), comprises a symmetrical ring 10 and parallel corona shielding members 11, 12 extending between the ends of the ring 10 and symmetrically disposed about the axis of the ring. The ends 14, 15 of the ring curve upwardly and the members 11, 12 extend downwardly from each end and have substantially horizontal central portions 17. The members 10, 11 and 12 which are made of tubular steel and welded together, are supported by a tubular member 13 having a flattened top portion 21 which is welded to a support lug depending from the base of the insulator chain 20. A suspension clamp 25 carrying conductor 27 is secured to the support lug by means of a pivotal connection. Fig. 5 illustrates a modified assembly for use with strain clamps at dead end towers. A double insulator chain 33 carries at its base a support yoke 34 for a strain clamp 35. A symmetrical grading ring 38 carries parallel corona shielding members 39, 40. The ends 43, 44 of ring 38 curve upwardly and the members 39 40 extend downwards from ends 43, 44, terminating in flat upturned parts 45 which are bolted to the yoke 34. Parallel corona shielding loops 41, 42 are provided with flattened end portions which are secured to the shielding members 39, 40.
