Abstract
452,198. Handbag fastenings. DAVIS, D., 34, Beech Street, Barbican, London. April 15, 1936, No. 10898. [Class 44] A handbag is provided with fastening means at the centre and ends of the frame, under control of a single operating device disposed at one side of the frame. The bag is of the kind having frame members 2, 3 connected by hinged members 5, member 3 nesting, when the bag is closed, in member 2 which is of angular section. Two slidable finger - operated members 12, 13 centrally disposed on the side of member 3, are urged apart by springs, not shown, and carry hook catches 10 adapted to snap into engagement with apertured lugs 15 on member 2. At the same time sliding rods 16 receiving motion from members 10 have their outer ends 19 projected into engagement with sockets 20 at the ends of member 2. A key-operated lock 14 may be provided. As an additional security, stirrups 22, Fig. 5, pivoted near the ends of member 2, may be swung down to embrace the ends of members 2, 3 in the closed position.
