Abstract

273,853. Hill, W. J. April 28, 1926. Hasp fastenings.-In a trunk, suit case, &c. comprising a non-expansible body and a gusseted or other form of expansible lid or vice versa, the fastening and hinge each embodies two telescopic elements 5, 6 provided with means 9, 11 for their independent attachment to the relatively movable parts of the expansible lid or body and a hinged member which may either be the hasp 4 or a binge plate, adapted to lock the telescopic members 5, 6 in their position of adjustment. The locking means may be of the type described in Specifications 268,922 and 270,478, wherein a spring-pressed detent carried by the inner member 5 engages at one end with a rack provided on the member 6 and is engaged at the other end by the hinged member 4, the detent being held in engagement when the hinged member is in alignment with the member 5.
