[Class 38 (ii)] A transformer comprises three closed cores d, e, arranged as shown, the windings being arranged each to surround one limb of the central core d and one limb of an associated outer core e. Joint-gaps f, g are formed in the central core d and have non-magnetic material inserted therein. In an alternative arrangement the windings are arranged round the inner limbs of a four-limbed core, joint gaps being provided only in the yokes joining these inner limbs.
