Abstract
An addition product of rubber and a metal compound, in solution in a volatile solvent immiscible with water, is decomposed by treatment with water to obtain a dispersion of the solution, and removal of the solvent by distillation, during which step a reducing agent is present in solution in the water. The metal compound used to form the addition product may be stannic chloride, chloro-stannic acid, ferric chloride, chromic chloride or aluminium chloride. The solvent may be benzene, gasoline or chloroform, and may be removed by steam distillation. The reducing agent may be sodium sulphite, hydroquinone or sodium sulphide.
