449,420. Billet piercing. STEWARTS & LLOYDS, Ltd., 41, Oswald Street, Glasgow, and COOPER, J. C., Coombs Wood Tube Works, Halesowen, near Birmingham. March 13, 1935, No. 7786. [Class 83 (iv)] A heated billet is placed in a hollow cylindrical container and pierced by a plunger j to form the hollow body b the container c and its liner d moving away from an abutment g as the piercing proceeds. This movement may be assisted by plungers h and may be limited by stops k. The container c is formed with grooves e for water cooling purposes.
