Abstract

[Class 71] [See also Groups II and XXX] A jet pulverizer comprises a vertical tubular barrel 10, a hopper 11 for feeding coal, ore, cement clinker, &c. into the upper end of the barrel and a high pressure gas stream introduced into the mid-portion of the barrel to flow therethrough in a downwardly-tapering conical stream and entrain and project the material onto an anvil 13. The barrel, Fig. 2, is of uniform bore throughout, the gas entering a chamber 48 and flowing into the barrel through an annular conical space 43 which is adjustable to suit the pressure of the gas, material acted upon, &c. The nozzle of the barrel is provided with a wear piece 44 held in position by a cap 45. The distance between the gas inlet 43 to the muzzle end of the barrel is between 14-18 times as great as the internaldiameter of the barrel.
