Abstract
448,270. Drying or cooling apparatus. GIUSTI, T., and GIUSTI, R. B., 52, Pembroke Street, Islington, London. Dec. 5, 1934, No. 34944. [Classes 29 and 34 (ii)] A drying or cooling apparatus which may be used for treating biscuit tins and chocolate, and for similar purposes, comprises two compartments separated by a partition formed with slots increasing in size from one end to the other of the partition, hot or cold air being forced by fan means and baffles to pass through the slots from one compartment into the other compartment, through which the articles to be treated travel on one or more conveyer bands. In the construction shown, biscuit tins 4 are conveyed on an endless band 5 through a tunnel 1 which is divided into two compartments by a floor 10. The floor is perforated and provided with baffles 11, the perforations and baffles being of increasing size from the front to the rear of the tunnel. A fan 6 is adapted to blow heated or cooled air through the upper compartment, the air being directed by the baffles through the perforations in the floor so as to heat or cool the passing tins 4. A door is provided in the front of the tunnel for admission of fresh air. The air may be heated by means of one or more burners 7. A refrigerator coil replaces the burners if the apparatus is used for cooling purposes. The apparatus is preferably provided with two conveyer bands arranged side by side but adapted to move in opposite directions.
