Abstract

Films are made from resinous material obtained by polymerizing an organic ester of which the acid radical contains a vinyl or substituted vinyl group by casting solutions in ethyl acetate, benzol, toluol, &c. on a filmcasting wheel &c. and evaporating the solvent. Polymerized alkyl and aryl esters of acrylic, methacrylic, crotonic, cinnamic, and itaconic acids, e.g. ethyl acrylate are suitable, the degree of polymerization being preferably such that the material may be marked by the finger nail. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use of resinous materials obtained by polymerizing compounds containing the radical CR1R2: CR3--where R1, R2 and R3 represent a hydrogen atom or a radical replacing hydrogen. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
