Abstract

447,482. Batteries. PRITCHETT & GOLD & E. P. S. CO., Ltd., and CHAPMAN, E. S., Dagenham Dock, Essex. Nov. 19, 1934, No. 33206. [Class 53] An accumulator is provided with a filling tube H in which is a liquid level indicator j<2> operated by a float j<1> and acting also as a valve to close the filling tube when the liquid in the accumulator stands at a predetermined level. The valve j<2> may be of white material and may be marked on its upper surface so that it may be readily seen when it has risen to its highest position, or it may carry a short upward extension carrying marks which become visible when the valve closes. Any excess water is caught in a recess H<2> formed in the tube H. A cap K may be provided carrying a projection K<1> which opens the valve slightly and allows water in the recess H<2> to drain back into the accumulator. Any water overflowing from the recess H<2> is caught in a well E formed in the lid of the accumulator. A second cover L is provided for all the cells of the accumulator and is formed with openings through which the tubes H project. The cap K may be provided with a vent hole for gas, or a separate vent plug M which may be of the kind described in Specification 312,848, [Class 53], may be provided.
