Abstract

Phosphatides are heated with higher aliphatic carboxylic acids and/or salts thereof to give condensation products which are particularly useful in the manufacture of vulcanized rubber goods. According to the examples, lecithin is heated with oleic acid or with a mixture of stearic and palmitic acids and the product allowed to cool. Salts mentioned are zinc stearate and ammonium oleate. When intended for incorporation with rubber, products prepared from copper, manganese, cobalt and nickel salts should not be used. Specification 348,783 is referred to.
