Oct. 11, 1935, No. 28155. Convention date, Jan. 4. [Class 40 (v)] Relates to direct-reading radiogomometers of the type in which a Neon-lamp is used to indicate the critical points of maximum or minimum reception. According to the invention, the indicator glow-lamp is arranged to be constantly lit, and the length of the column of light varies with the orientation of the frame aerial. As shown in Fig. 1, the Neon lamp has a cathode 8a, an anode 8b, and an auxiliary electrode 8d to facilitate ignition. It is kept glowing by a battery 12, and the voltage pick-up from the loop aerial 2, after amplification at 5, is fed to the lamp from a resistance 7. The lamp rotates in synchronism with the aerial, and is viewed through a translucent screen 9. The resulting indication will take one or other of the forms shown in Figs. 3 to 6, according as the base or the top of the glow-lamp is placed close to the axis of rotation, or according to the position of the switch 20 which reverses the direction of the supply from the amplifier 5 to the resistance 7. The points of minimum reception are indicated at 16a, 17a, 18a and 19a respectively. Alternatively the glow. lamp is arranged vertically.
