Abstract
447,137. Supporting trousers &c. POWE, G. H., 165, Regent Street, London. Nov. 19, 1934, No. 33285. [Class 141] Supporting devices for trousers, skirts, and like garments, of the kind comprising at least three short resilient tensioning strips disposed at intervals around the waistband of the garment on the inside thereof and attached at the ends thereto, are characterized in that the means of attachment of the strips at at least one of the ends thereof, is of an adjustable character so as to permit the distance between the points of attachment of each strip to be varied along the length of the strip. As shown, each supporting device comprises a resilient strip 2 provided at its ends with elements 3, 4, of a press-button fastener which are adapted to engage selectively with co-operating press-button elements 5, 6 and 7, 8, respectively, provided on the waistband. The tensioning strips are roughened upon their inner faces, e.g. by being provided with resilient bristle-like projections 9, to enhance the frictional grip of the strip upon the garment worn next to the trousers. The press-button elements 5, 6, are mounted upon pieces 12, of leather, fabric, or the like, stitched to the waistband, and the ends of the strips 2 are reinforced to receive the elements 3, 4. In a modification, the press-button elements 5, 6 and 7, 8, may be carried upon a metal plate which may be T-shaped, sewn to the waistband.
