Abstract
447,099. Musical instruments. COMPTON, J., Chase Road, Willesden, London. Aug. 9, 1935, No. 22556. [Class 88 (ii)] [See also Group XXXIX] In electrical apparatus for imitating the sound of bells, e.g. by picking up sounds from a percussion instrument, or using electrically generated currents, the microphone or loudspeaker or a sound reflector associated therewith is rotated or oscillated so as to produce sound variations simulating the swinging of a bell. As shown, the loud-speaker 1 is carried by a spindle 4 connected by cranks 7, 13 and link 14 to a shaft 9 driven by motor 8. The crank 7 is longer than 13 so that the loudspeaker is oscillated, but the arrangement may be such that it is continuously rotated. The loud-speaker connections may be made through slip-rings.
