Abstract
446,638. Liquid-dispensing containers. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London. Jan. 2, 1936, No. 192. Convention date, Jan. 2, 1935. [Class 21] Beer, alcohol, or other commercial liquids contained in hermetically closed containers is dispensed by introducing vent air above the free surface of liquid through vent tubes 5, 6 communicating at b with an open-ended vent tube 7, the tubes 5, 7 communicating with a tap body 9 containing a rotatable plug 10 divided into two parts by a partition 13 and having ports 14, 16 which can be brought to register with the vent tube 5 and outflow tube 7, so that vent air can enter through an opening 14a while liquid flows out through a nozzle 8. The dimensions are such that outflow can take place without opening the vent port. By this apparatus escape of volatiles or of dissolved carbon dioxide is avoided and contamination from vent air is minimized. The bung 3 is engaged beneath a shoulder 3a to prevent removal. The tap plug is rotated by a handle hinged to one edge.
