Abstract
446,350. Ophthalmoscopes &c. SMITH & SON (GLASGOW), Ltd., 57, St. Vincent Street, and GRINTON, R., 28, Gibson Street, Hillhead, both in Glasgow. Dec. 1, 1934, No. 34596. [Class 97 (i)] Relates to ophthalmoscopes, auriscopes, &c. having small electric lamps of low voltage, and provided with a handle adapted to receive cells for energizing the lamp. According to the invention, in order to enable the cells to be withdrawn and the lamp to be illuminated from the mains there is provided a transformer b adapted to be connected to the mains, the secondary of the transformer being connected by a flexible lead d to a cap e screwing on to the end of the handle a. The cap carries a tubular member f extending along the handle and containing a spring-mounted I contact member g connected to one wire of the lead d. The cap e may be adapted to fit handles of different diameters, for example by providing it with a number of threaded rings el, e<2>. Specification 438,990 is referred to.
