445,966. Making band saws, band knives, &c. WOOTTON, C., Brookfield, Bridgetown, and RALPH, W., 64, Hodnesford Street, both in Cannock, Staffordshire. Jan. 8, 1935, No. 612. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Uniting by fusion.-Steel bands such as band saws or knives have their ends joined or breakages or cracks repaired by fusion welding with a rod or wire of mild steel coated with copper in conjunction with an oxyacetylene or like flame. The joint may be hammered after welding and ground or filed to the face of the band. The ends of the band may be cut obliquely. In welding a band saw, welding may be performed first from the plain edge to the toothed edge and then back to the plain edge, and the second operation may be effected in stages, each stage being hammered while hot. In repairing a crack, welding is effected from the inner to outer edge in stages, each stage being hammered while hot.
