Abstract

In a process of uniting metal bodies wherein stresses introduced therein are released by removing material, stresses may be introduced in a cylinder of soft iron by chilling from 680 DEG C., in water, and in a steel ring by heating it to 650 DEG C., and spraying with water on the outside.
