Abstract

445,930. Fabrics composed of agglutinated fibres. SLADDIN, A. G., c /o Sladdin & Sons, Ltd., W. H., Crowtrees Mills, Brighouse, Yorkshire. Sept. 21, 1934, No. 27144. [Class 140] A waterproof, unshrinkable fabric is made by impregnating a web of carded loose vegetable or animal textile fibres such as cotton, jute, wool, mohair, alpaca or artificial silk, or a mixture thereof, with rubber latex containing ammonia, and gelatine, to which glycerine may be added. The fabrics may be pre-treated to render them more absorbent. A web B from a roll A is passed over a lattice P and guide roll C into a trough D containing the rubber dispersion and between an immersed roll F and an upper roll E from which it is removed by a stripper roll M. The web is then passed between pressure rolls G, H, led on an endless belt J through a drier K and finally cuttled or rolled up.
