Abstract

Ammonium sulphate is obtained in the form of flat scale-like hexagonal crystals by crystallizing the salt from its aqueous solutions containing a dissolved salt of aluminium amounting to 0,003 to 0,6 parts per thousand (calculated as Al2O3) of the dissolved ammonium sulphate while maintaining in the solution a pH value of about 5,8 to 7. According to an example, ammonium sulphate is crystallized by evaporating a solution to which aluminium sulphate has been added, and which has a pH of about 6,0--6,8. If necessary, the aluminium content or the hydrogen ion concentration of the solution may be corrected during crystallization. Specifications 330,945 and 330,947, [both in Class 1 (ii)], are referred to.
