[Class 38 (i)] An electric-lamp socket adapted to be attached to a supporting member of relatively thin material comprises a substantially tubular body portion 1, Fig. 3, from one end of which extend a number of yieldable projections 10 which are adapted to be inserted through an aperture in the support 17 to secure the socket thereto, the tubular body 1 being on one side of the support while the actual lamp receiving socket is formed by the yieldable projections 10 on the other side, these projections having diverging portions at their inner ends and converging portions at their outer or free ends to facilitate the insertion and withdrawal of the socket through the aperture. The resilient projections 10 are in the form of fingers extending from the edge of a ring 6 which is held in position within a flange 5 at the flared end of the tubular body 1. The ring 6 is provided with an axial aperture to receive the cap 14 of a lamp, and is formed with notches 7, Fig. 5, through which the bayonet-joint pins 16 of the cap are passed. The lamp is then rotated until the pins engage within detents 8, the movement of the pins being limited by ears 8<a> stamped from the plate. A spring-pressed contact member 11 assists in retaining the lamp cap in position. The socket, together with the inserted lamp, may be pushed through the panel from the rear side thereof, or the lamp may be inserted at the front after the insertion of the socket from the rear.
