444,650. Windscreencleaners. BURDETT, H. C., 190, Piccadilly, London, MEACOCK, T., 16, Hillcrest Road, Southendon-Sea, and MEACOCK, J. R., Westonia, Mannering Gardens, Westcliff-on-Sea. Oct. 2, 1935, No. 31094/34. [Class 138 (i)] In a windscreen-cleaner in which the wiper blade is traversed across the screen by means of a pin projecting from a driven endless band and engaging a vertical slot in a slide carrying the blade, the endless band is guided horizontally and vertically to prevent sag, whip, or side displacement. As shown, an endless band passes round sprockets 2, 3, the sprocket 2 being adapted to be driven by a motor or through a flexible shaft. The band is provided with a pin 5 engaging a slot 18 in a slide 4 having a socket 20 into which a wiper blade is screwed. The band is guided in a housing consisting of two channel-shaped parts 8, 10 forming two pairs of flanges, the inner flanges 11 being bent at 9 to prevent side displacement of the band. The outer flanges are bent to form ribs 6 on which the slide 4 is guided. The sprocket 3 is spring-pressed to keep the band in tension.
