Abstract

335,001. Dudley, W. July 18, 1929. Windscreen-cleaners. -In a combined windscreen wiper and windscreen, the top frame tube of the windscreen, to which the transparent screen is fixed, forms a guide for a slide carrying the wiper arm and a housing for the means reciprocating the slide, the tube having a longitudinal slot to one side of the screen through which a projection on the slide passes for connection to the wiper arm. The top frame tube 1 houses a slide comprising part circular ends 7 connected by a strip 8. Each end 7 has a projection 9 extending through a slot 4 in the tube for connection to a wiper arm. A flange 5 on the tube extends over the slot, and a thin elastic metal strip 10 bears against the parts 5, 9 to exclude dirt and water. The slide is secured to a chain 13 passing over a pair of sprockets mounted within the tube, one of the sprockets being driven, to reciprocate the slide, by a flexible drive 16. The tube 1 is mounted on trunnion pins so that the screen is pivotally supported.
