444,102. Ball -and roller bearings. HOFFMANN MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., New Street, Chelmsford.-(Assignees of Batesole, D. E. ; Glenbrook, Connecticut, U.S.A.) Jan. 10, 1936, No. 894. Convention date, March 7, 1935. [Class 12 (i)] A grease packed ball or-roller bearing has a ring-shaped side plate 24 with an inwardly extend ing sleeve portion 23 ad jacent the side edge of the inner race ring 18. The sleeve portion covers circumferential sealing grooves 21 on the inner ring so that lubricant seeping into the grooves 21 seals the bearing. The plate 24 is pressed against a shoulder 15 on the outer race ring 10 by a spring locking ring 26 seated ii a groove 16. The outer race ring has diametrically opposed holes, closed by plugs 17, for recharging the bearing with lubricant, or for flushing through for cleaning.
