443,284. Rubber threads. SHEPHERD, T. L., 7, Park Lane, London. May 15, 1934, No. 28352 /35. Divided out of 442,937. [Class 70] A process for forming rubber threads consists in applying rubber solution or latex continuously onto a rotating roller 10, forming it into thread on the roller whilst shaping the upper surface of the thread by a recess 15 in a doctor member 12, and feeding the shaped thread thus formed in the manner of printing on to a moving belt 13. The roller 10 may be plain or the full crosssection of the threads may be formed partly by the recesses 15 in the doctor and partly by complementary grooves or recesses 11 on the roller 10. The rubber solution may be applied to the roller 10 by an intermediate roller z which dips into a bath of the solution or latex. The threads of rubber solution or latex on the belt may be solidified by the usual drying or coagulating processes. A band of paper may be inserted between the roller 10 and the belt 13.
