Abstract
443,227. Actuation of switches. POTTER, A. C., Dysart Road Ironworks, Grantham. Aug. 23, 1934, No. 24320. [Class 38 (v)] A float e mounted on a tube d slidable on a pin c carries on its upper face a disc valve f and guide cup g adapted when raised by liquid into the position shown to close the lower end of a tube a supported in brackets b. On a further rise in the liquid level, liquid enters holes a<3> in the tube a and submerges the bared ends of conductors i<1> to complete a circuit to a pump which lowers the liquid level. When the level has fallen sufficiently to lower the float e, the valve f is opened and liquid flows out through holes g<1> in the cup g and the circuit is broken. Instead of the liquid bridging the circuit between the conductors, movable contacts operated by the liquid may be provided in the tube a.
