443,117. Mining-machines. BRITISH JEFFREY-DIAMOND, Ltd., Stennard Works, Wakeneld.-(Jeffrey Manufacturing Co. ; Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A.) Aug. 27, 1934, No. 24627. [Class 68 (i)] [See also Group XXV] A cutter chain for a coal-cutting or like machine comprises U-shaped bit-carrying links 12 connected by pairs of links 11 within the walls of the links 12 and one on each side of the cutter bar 16 formed of outer plates 21 and an inner hardened plate 22 with a flanged edge 23 ; the inner faces of the flanged edge 23 are engaged by the links 11 and by projections 24 within the links 12 to maintain the chain in position. The inner surfaces 27 of the links 12 may be arcuate. Lugs 28 on the links 11 co-operate with extensions 30 on the links 12 to prevent flexing of the chain in one direction ; extensions 30 on adjacent links 12 may be adapted to abut for the same purpose.
