Abstract

442,961. Excavators. PRIESTMAN, L. D., Beech House, Cottingham, East Yorkshire. Dec. 4, 1934, No. 34870. [Class 68 (i)] In a trench excavator comprising a scoop with an arm pivoted at the end of a crane jib, the arm being connected on opposite sides of the pivot to ropes &c. whereby the arm may be swung about its pivot and the jib raised and lowered, an ejector is mounted in the scoop and is connected to the jib so as to be moved to eject the material as the scoop moves to discharging position. As shown, the scoop 10 has an extension 18 pivoted at 22 to the jib 20 and ropes 24, 26 rock the scoop or raise, and lower the jib. The ejector 34 is pivoted at 36 to the scoop and is connected by a link 40 to the jib so as to move towards the mouth of the scoop as the latter moves away from the jib. With a flat-bottomed scoop, the ejector may be mounted in guides so as to move parallel to itself.
