[Classes 97 (ii) and 97 (iii)] An instrument for indicating the flight conditions of aircraft comprises a rate of turn indicator and a pendulous indicator both of which are horizontal when in zero position and move about a common axis so that their positions relative to each other and to the outer casing may be readily seen. In the form shown a rotor 11 spins about a transverse axis 10 in a gimbal 9 pivoting about a fore and aft axis in the arms 13, 14, of a frame 15 which is provided with a key adapted to be slid into a groove in the outer casing 1 and secured by a hollow bolt 21 forming the rotor driving jet. The pivotal movement of the gimbal 9 is damped by two dashpots 20 and restrained by a tension spring 17 anchored to a slightly yielding arm 16 which may be adjusted by the screw 18. A spindle 7 fixed to the gimbal 9 projects into the space between a front window 2 and a parallel annular glass plate 4 and carries a normally horizontal indicator 8 in the form of a model aircraft. Fixed on the spindle 7 or attached to the plate 4, as shown, is an annular transparent capsule 5 which is half full of opaque liquid 6. Luminous marks 23 are provided to indicate the normal positions of the two indicators. When the indicator 8 is connected to a known type of turn indicator reversing linkage may be introduced.
