[Class 39 (i)] Searchlights are provided with means whereby, when the light is tilted, the relative positions of the electrodes are automatically adjusted. For this purpose the sleeve a holding the cathode B may be pivoted at c and held against a cam g by a spring f and rod d. The cam g is also pivoted in the electrode support b and attached to a weight g<2>. In a modification pinions attached to the cam g and a stationary part of the searchlight are substituted for the weight g<2>.
