442,416. Soldering tool tips &c. KRUPP AKT.-GES., F., Essen, Germany. Aug. 30, 1935, No. 24326. Convention date, April 5. [Classes 83 (ii), 83 (iii), and 83 (iv)] In making soldered joints between parts of articles or machine parts having different coefficients of expansion, such as a hard tip C soldered to the body or shaft A of a slotting or other cutting tool, a piece of wire gauze B of a metal such as iron, steel, &c. having a higher melting point than the solder D, such as copper, brass or silver solder, is inserted between the parts so as to avoid internal stresses. The gauze may be woven in a way known in the weaving of linen. The wires may be from 0À1 to 0À3 mm. thick and the meshes from 0À3 to 1À5 mm. wide. When soldering substantially rectangular surfaces the wires may run approximately parallel to the diagonals of the rectangle.
